So I just wasted a couple hours of my life with Outlook 2007 again.
(system: Vista business, running Outlook 2007)
The solution I have discovered so far is to open Outlook as the
Administrator: (Right click+Shift key) Outlook icon, "Run As
Administrator".
For each of the file types you do NOT want to be prompted with the
"Opening Mail Attachment" box and the grayed out/disabled "always ask
before opening this type of file" message, you must try to OPEN the
file. You will now be able to clear that annoying little box! Users
won't be prompted anymore before opening a file of that type.
Presto!
