You mean upgrade to XP?

Simple...

Buy XP, re-format your drive...and install it.

You'll have to pay for a Windows downgrade.

Going from Vista to XP is not a downgrade, it is an upgrade by all means!

Re: How to downgrade from Vista to XP
It depends on how you installed Vista and what type of installation media
you used as well as the type of installation media you have for XP?

Give us some details.

Re: How to downgrade from Vista to XP
I have a recently purchased Thinkpad Tablet with Vista. My business is not
prepared for Vista and will not be for some time. How do I downgrade to
Windows XP Tablet? I note that Vista Business qualifies for this downgrade,
but I do not understand the process.

Re: How to downgrade from Vista to XP
Hi,

The downgrade would have to be supplied by the manufacturer of the tablet,
as it is an OEM license. You need to contact them.

Re: How to downgrade from Vista to XP
The only thing Lenovo has offered is to ship the computer back for a new one
with XP, but I am 2 days beyond the 21 day limit for that.

Does the OEM license not qualify for the downgrade from Microsoft?

Re: How to downgrade from Vista to XP
AFAIK OEM licenses do not have downgrade rights. Usually only VL (volume
licensed) licenses have downgrade rights.

You could speak to your business about getting them to purchase a license
under their VL scheme for your tablet if you need XP.

Cheers
Ken

Hi,

Some do, most don't. As Ken has stated, that right exists mainly for volume
license customers, not retail. With an OEM, the downgrade has to be handled
by the vendor, not Microsoft, which is why most do not do it at all.
