control panel and/or Computer Management snap. Please help. I'd highly

Re: Enabling Administrator Account in Windows Vista Basic
You can do this in any version of Vista. However, caution is the keyword
here and you should not use the built-in administrator account other than on
a temporary basis.

Go to Start and type cmd

In the programs list, right click on CMD and select Run As Administrator.

In the command prompt window, type the following command.

net user administrator /active:yes

(Note the spaces and colon)

Press Enter.

Log off of your user account and you will see the Administrator account on
the Welcome screen. This account will not have a password associated with
it. The first thing you need to do is go into Control Panel / User Accounts
and create a strong password for this account.

Lots of things have changed in Vista. Control Panel has undergone a
major facelift. There should be a option to display as classic view.
From there you can get back to most of the Administrative functions XP
had.

Be warned, UAC (User Account Control) has become a nanny and will put
up endless warning screens for even simple things like moving files.
When or how often depends on how elborate your system is. I don't run
basic, I'm going to assume it has the same "feature" and that you can
turn it off. I suggest you do, at least until you learn all it is
doing behind the scenes.

Re: Enabling Administrator Account in Windows Vista Basic
Hi Ronnie, I had the same problem in Vista Home Premium. I followed your
advice and now have two Administrator accounts. How do I delete the newer
one that was created? Thanks
