VIsta (IE Opens mulitple instanaces when accessing Windows LIVE)

does anyone know why everytime i got to my hotmail, IE attempts to open
several windows. If i sit back and watch, the process opens up over 20 IE
instances? I can't seem to figure out why it keeps doing that. Beside the
fact that i will crash my pc if i continue to let go on forever, it is
upsetting me that MS Vista is such a pain to use.
i just want to open my hotmail, did they have to make this so difficult
also?
