Microsoft Photo Editor
This is the default viewer in Vista for images. I take high resolution
digital images that MS Photo Editor will not open. I have to open them in
Adobe Photoshop CS2. I was told by the local computer shop that this is
"normal" on Vista and that you have to use an alternate program to open high
resolution images. I didn't have this problem with XP. Why do I have such
a problem with Vista if it's supposed to be an "upgrade" from XP?

Re: Microsoft Photo Editor
Hello,

What version of Vista do you have? If you have Ultimate, it should open in
Photo Gallery.

Re: Microsoft Photo Editor
Are you referring to RAW images?

The default viewer in XP could handle RAW images only if you upgraded with a
MS-provided add-on. Perhaps it will be available for Vista soon.

Meanwhile, Irfanview can handle RAW images, provided you install the
plug-in, and runs just fine in Vista.

Re: Microsoft Photo Editor
There are twp photo programs included with Vista Office Picture Manager and
Windows Photo Gallery.

If you upgraded from XP the file association may have ?carried over". Right
click one of the photos - select "Open With" - browse and select Windows
Photo Gallery for default - or whatever other program you have installed.

Re: Microsoft Photo Editor
I'm referring to standard .jpg images but high resolution images (around 3-4
mb or larger). It won't open them as it would in the XP O.S. I use RAW
images too...but use Canon software and/or Photoshop CS2 for that...at least
most of the time. I've talked to the guys at the local computer shop and
they affirmed that Vista's version of MS Photo Editor will not open high
resolution .jpg images as it did in XP. Not a big thing, I suppose...but if
Vista is supposed to be an "upgrade" O.S., why is the Vista version of MS
Photo Editor not as versitile???
