Vista & QT/Itunes Install Problem
Anyone know why the newest version of iTunes with Quicktime fails to install
the QT component giving an error
message? QT stops stops install and iTunes will not install w/o it!

And what was the error message?? Knowing the error usually helps solve the
problem! :-)

Anyway it sounds like you are running into quite a common problem with
iTunes and QuickTime. It is discussed in this article on Apple's website:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304405

The article mentions Windows XP but the same info applies to Vista; note,
you must be running as administrator (right-click the command prompt icon in
the Start menu, select "Run as Administrator" to get an Administrative
command prompt).

If this isn't the error you're describing, reply back here with more
details.

Hope it helps,
Andrew

Re: Vista & QT/Itunes Install Problem
If you save the iTunes setup program to your drive and then try to install by
opening that file, you will sometimes get the message "not a valid Win32
application". Instead of saving the download, select "run" and the program
should install normally. If it still won't install, see below.

I had the same problem with iTunes/QuickTime and Roxio/Sonic. Before Vista
will let you update/install a newer version of a program, all remnants of the
program must be completely removed from your system. Since the Vista
uninstall feature sometimes does a poor job at this, these remnants often
have to be removed manually. The following tutorial shows how to do this:
