Windows Mobile Device Center keeps freezing when I want to sync mo

I have a HP iPAQ rw6828 Multimedia Messenger pda mobile which I have always
been able to sync previouxly with XP. Now that I have Vista and Windows
Mobile Device Center I have problems. WMDC freezes whenever I sync my phone.
I cannot change any of my selections for syncing, I have followed all the
instructions - uninstalling previous versions before downloading and
installing WMDC and I have done this 3 times to no avail. The program
recognises my phone and sometimes syncs the information but not without
difficulty and not regularly. Can anyone help?
