Usenet (which this is a group on) works on distributed servers. Your
news server may well be different to mine. Therefore I can make a post
on my server and it may take some significant time to appear on your
server. The fact my server shows the post I made to it doesn't mean
anyone else outside of my server can see it. In fact, I've had times
where the news server I use has had an upstream problem and for a number
of days my posts never actually made it out onto other news servers. I
could see them, but no-one else outside my server could.
Therefore it's entirely likely and probable that a post made an hour
earlier, may not have propagated to other servers in that time. Usually
it'll be quicker - but it's possible.
