Norton Internet Security 2007
I'm having problems with NIS2007 (from the Symantec website) that is
still unresolved by the Symantec Help Team.
Per their instructions, I run:
"Norton_Removal_Tool.exe"
Elminate any remaining Norton/Symantec files
Defrag the hard drive
Run "NIS071020.exe"
Unfortunately, after "NIS071020.exe" seemingly finishes installing the
files, the system burps and shows the following message:
"This version of Norton Internet Security is not compatible with your
version of Windows Vista"
Huh????
BTW,
I'm running Vista Ultimate x32 on a
Lenovo 3000 J115 7287 26U
with an AMD Athlon (64 x 2) Dual Core Processor with 1Mb
Any help in getting NIS2007 installedwould be greatly appreciated...I
feel naked without my Semantec virus protection.
Any suggestions?

Symantec products are known Crapware.
Remove immediately!

Actually, I was not seeking a review, but am looking more along the
lines of help running the "crapware" in Vista Ultimate.
P.S. Oh, I can't remove it because I haven't yet been able to load it.

Re: Norton Internet Security 2007
Symantec and I have had many communications. It appears that they know
their product, but not all the technicians are very familiar with
Vista, which is the reason I was hoping folks here could steer me in
the right direction.
They have stated that...
> Norton AntiVirus 2007.2 is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista (32
> bit) only. Norton AntiVirus 2007.2 is not compatible with the Microsoft
> Windows Vista (64 bit) operating system.
>
In the last correcspondence they did have me "right-click" on the
executible (NIS071020.exe) and make sure to "uncheck" the compatability
tab.
So, where am I at:
After executing NIS071020.exe, the program goes through the following
two steps:
1. Extracting Files...
2. Checking for Updates...
and then this window appears
"This version of Norton Internet Security is not compatible with your
version of Windows Vista"
I'm more concerned with finding the problem in case it has to do with
Vista. I'm reaching maybe, but I'm wondering if this has to do with how
Vista handles security? And, maybe this is related to my other problems,
namely, that I can use Vista's Backup and Restore program to backup my
hard drive, but the Lenovo (the software that came with computer) and
Bounceback (the software that came with the Seagate hard drive) fail in
the middle of the backup process--I have the latest products for both.
Also, in Mail, I can send messages, but am unable to send a reply to a
message (it just sits in the Outbox).
Thanks

OK, here's the latest "trick" that did not work.

You should have your head examined, twice, for using Norton/Symantec
ANYTHING.
They make horrible, cycle stealing software that is difficult to remove
and quite possibly can make your system unstable.
There are so many free programs that are much better.

Yes, they are no longer the company that Peter Norton originated.
