Re: Antivirus Software
Hi,

The Onecare help files indicate that you should not have another antivirus
program running in concert with it. Doing so may invoke conflicts and
performance issues. The design of Onecare is to replace the need for
multiple programs for av, antispyware, and other security concerns.

Depends on how stupid a user you are.

Do you go to dodgy websites? Do you download stuff from P2P? Do you use
software from dubious software?

When the OS is screaming at you "X wants to do this" when you've just
downloaded one of those supposed free games from an ad filled website,
do you click "Allow"?

If the answer to any of the above is yes then you do. If not then if
your ISP runs AV on your inbox as Hotmail do, then probably not.

I can recommend ESETs NOD32 as a very resource friendly AV solution.

Jay

Yes you will. AV of your choice.

AVG7.x?? NOD32.?? The AV suites can be rather daunting
so stay away from them.

good luck

You're confusing Windows with Linux. Of course you do! Try Avast; it's
free and quite good. www.avast.com

If you want an operating system that doesn't need a firewall or an anti
virus, check out Ubuntu at www.ubuntu.com. It's free, no activation, no
Genuine BS and no need for anti virus or anti malware programs.

Re: Antivirus Software
I know that Onecare has a vista version that works just fine. If you have only installed Onecare on one machine, you should be able to get the Vista version of Onecare and install it.

Considering the ineffectiveness of Windows OneCare, it is a GOOD IDEA to
remove it, and install a third-party AV package.

Here are a few good ones for Vista.

1) NOD32 Antivirus (latest version). This one is the best antivirus solution
of all.

2) Trend Micro Internet Security 2007 (for Vista). You will have to download
the Vista version once you purchase the XP version.
This is a great all-in-one package.

Beyond those two, I cannot really make any recommendations, since the two
above are definitely the best overall AV/Security products.
