Cannot get Windows Security Center to see my Anti-Virus

Nothing has worked.

Using Windows Live OneCare
Using Windows Defender

I have both installed, and uninstalled WLOC several times in the hope
it would finally be seen by the Security Center. Many reboot's, and
one or 2 complete re-installs. Nothing has worked, and I want it to.

MS Security Center see's neither of them. It says "Not found." So I
have to "monitor it myself" so the damn icon goes away. But I do not
want that type of fix... I spent some good money on this OS, and I want
it to function properly. So could someone please guide me in the right
direction, it would be most appreciated.

Out of interest, install a trial of NOD32 and see what happens.

Well, Loiselle, do what any "right-thinking" individual would:
1) Tell Windows Security Centre that you are using an AV which you will
monitor yourself.
2) Alternately, purchase or otherwise obtain an AV package which DOES properly
register itself with Windows Security Centre.
3) Wait until YOUR particular AV developer releases a patch which registers
itself properly with Windows Security Centre.

Really, Loiselle, this has nothing to do with Microsoft. Microsoft has
released many months ago the necessary APIs to allow AV packages to be
registered properly with Windows. If the AV manufacturer has failed to avail
itself of Microsoft's generous offering, Microsoft can do nothing about it.

Re: Cannot get Windows Security Center to see my Anti-Virus

I am inquiring about this situation because I want to have Windows
Security Center to recognize my AV. I don't want to simply monitor it
myself, and I know that is the easy solution. I do not, however want to
monitor it myself... nor should I have to with this feature in Vista...
that is why I am coming here to get some possible answers.

When I go to turn on the Windows Defender, it says the following...
"There are no new deffinitions avaliable for Windows Defender." ANd it
remains shut off, Vista does not allow me to "turn it on." I have gone
through the options per the help center with Windows Live OneCare, and
that has done nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas that their might be something wrong in the
system registry that is causing this?

Again, thank you in advance for all your help.
