Vista's Windows Update Clients phones home frequently?
In the Event Viewer, go to the Microsoft - Windows - WindowsUpdateClient
logs, and I am noticing that Vista is needing to connect back to Microsoft's
servers every 2 to 3 hours. Why is this?

Why does Vista generate much more Internet traffic?

It seems like Vista "phone home" quite frequently.

I'm using the Vista Business 32-bit version.

Re: Vista's Windows Update Clients phones home frequently?
Some/many programs are doing that now. I have ZA installed on XP. It "phones
home" at the top of every hour to look for antivirus/anti spyware updates. I
can not change this behavior, nor do I want to - except to turn of auto
update.

Maybe you have something similar that came with your computer - like Windows
Defender - doing the same.

It's checking for updates much more frequently than XP did.

The logic behind that is if updates are out you should get them sooner
rather than later.

I'm seeing complaints from users who have upgraded to VISTA and are
finding that typing in an editor is interrupted continually so that
characters do not appear when typed.

I'm suspecting stuff like this running in the background and suggested
for troubleshooting that they disconnect from the internet and see if
it is any better.
