It's hard to offer any help as you don't say what error message you are
getting. Can you provide additional detail?

Well, if you'd stop and read the first error message, it's PROBABLY telling
you that RDC cannot establish a secure connection with the server and wants
to know if it may continue and connect in the older, non-secure way that
XP's RDP does. Probably. It may also be telling you that it's time for
dinner. Hard for me to tell the difference between those two dialog boxes
from here. :-)

Re: Remote Daektop connection with windows 2000 server?
Hello,

Thanks for your reply. Here with i have attached error message.please let me
know if this is useful to you in trouble shooting the error.

The error message goes here::::::

Remote desktop cannot verify the identity of the computer you want to
connect to.This problem can occur if:

(1) The remote computer is running a version of windows which ie earlier
than vista
(2) The remote computer is configured to support only the RDP Security Layer.

Do you want to connect any way ?

Yes and No buttton.

If i click yes it is connecting to remote server.

Thanks,
Bharat

Right, as Richard (and the error message state) the RDP server that you are
connecting to doesn't support the newer, more secure, connection protocol
included with the Vista RDP client. So it is warning you of that, but you
can simply click Yes and tell it to connect anyway. Unfortunately, due to
changes within the new client, you cannot store your ID and password such
that you won't have to enter them at all when connecting to an older server
as you are.

Re: Remote Daektop connection with windows 2000 server?
Hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply. But i would be more happy if there is any other way i
can just disable this warning message and directly connect to the remote
server.

Also if i cannot save the username and password i have to send back this
computer because i do not want to type username and password every time.

One more question.why this new system is very slow with windows vista.what
is the minimum memory required for vista os.Although i have 512 mb.

Anyway thanks for your reply.

Thanks,
Bharat

That is the minimum I would even try to run Vista on. 1 GB is closer to the
sweet spot for basic stuff, more if you are using memory intensive
applications.

I found on my local machine, that even with the 1Gb of RAM, there were
times I still experienced slow down, especially with the sidebar, etc
open.

Re: Remote Daektop connection with windows 2000 server?
The slowness of the computer may have more to do with the services, programs,
and "hoopla" features that start when Vista boots up. It's as if Microsoft
set Vista to start EVERYTHING by default.

Re: Remote Daektop connection with windows 2000 server?
Can this warning message be disabled in Vista? The RDP server (Windows
Server?) should have an update available or a fix that would allow the
connection without the "warning message" right?
