Dual boot
If I have my hard drive formatted as "c" and "d" with XP on C, can I simply
install Vista on D and at some point get prompted if I want to setup dual
boot?

I want to start using Vista but can't utilize all of my XP programs so,
until updates etc are available for all my software, I need to retain the
ability to use XP.

Thanks,
Tim

Re: Dual boot
Just install Vista to the other drive. It will automatically set up the dual
boot for you.

RE: Dual boot
Yes. But remember , if you are installing Vista by booting the DVD, then
the drives will be handled differently by the OS’s. When you are in Vista,
its partition will be shown as C: and XP as D , while in XP its partition
will be shown as C: while Vista as D:.

And if you are installing Vista from within XP each OS will name each drive
exactly as it was on install. that is to say XP will be shown as in C: and
Vista in D: from both OS.

So better give Vol labels, in case there's confusion.

Re: Dual boot
If you use an external boot manager program, it can be set up so one
operating system does not even know of the others existence.
