the daylight saving dilemma
FYI:

As you may know, DST has been changed as of this year as follows:
DST new:
Mar 11 - Nov 4
DST old:
Apr 1 - Oct 28

1) affect on op systems:
Ref: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931836/
"This article does not apply to Windows Vista or to a future release of
Windows Server Code name "Longhorn." These operating systems already
contain the 2007 time zone information or will receive an update to the time
zone information."

Re: Win XP Pro & Home
Per tests: the patch is included in the normal MS Windows updates for Feb
2007 available via MS's update web site

2) affect on Outlook (Vista users with MS Office's Outlook need to do this)
Ref: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931667/

APPLIES TO
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
Microsoft Outlook 2002 Standard Edition
Microsoft Outlook 2000 Standard Edition

The Time Zone Data Update Tool will NOT be distributed through Microsoft
Update or through Windows Update.
The Time Zone Data Update Tool must be downloaded from the Microsoft
Download Center and then run by the user.

Dnload file: tzmove.exe

Per tests:
Must have Admin rights to run it
Must do for each user
Must have used Outlook once (to have a profile)
Makes an entry in Event Viewer: Application
