text problems

I have just installed vista and now having problems with the colour of all
text, not just IE7 - itunes etc as well - green / purple / rainbow colour?
can anyone tell me whats wrong?

Right click a blank spot on the desktop and choose Personalize.
Click Window Color and Appearance.
Click Open classic appearance properties for more color options.
Click Effects.
Change from Clear Type to Standard.

thanks - hasnt helped, just made text look 'blurry' instead! so, its all
still green and purple - have also tried unticking 'clear type' in IE?
