VISTA Ultimate 64 bit OS and USB generic devices
Has anyone found that generic USB memory sticks work with VISTA Ultimate 64
bit edition?

I have tried 4 different ones that worked without special drivers or setups
on previous Windows
versions but "ask" for a driver disk on VISTA Ultimate (which of course
nobody has).

If this is true that Ultimate does not recognize such common generic items
then there should be
a warning NOT TO BUY WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE 64 BIT until the software is
corrected.

I hope I am wrong.

I have no any problem in my Vista machines.

I have tested different machines, VISTA Ultimate 32bit, 64bit, VISTA
Enterprise 64 bit. All them work with my USB memory and USB external
Harddisk.

What is your mother board? What is your USB chipset in the mother board?
Do you connect device to USB Hub or directly to the USB port in mother
board?

I use ASUS P5B Deluxe with Intel P965/ICH8R chipset and Gigabyte
GA-965P-DS3 with Intel P965/ICH8 chipset. They work in Vista very well.

It is possible your USB controller is not supported in Vista. Do you try
to find any Vista mother board/chipset driver from the manufacturer?

If you use USB Hub, try connect to mother board directly.

RE: VISTA Ultimate 64 bit OS and USB generic devices
Hello Karl,

There are three (actually four) types of USB Flash Media.

Which type of USB Flash are you attempting using?

Within Vista's Help and Support Files, fully USB Flash Media is explained,
also which type is prefered by Vista.

RE: VISTA Ultimate 64 bit OS and USB generic devices
Karl,

Since I have no idea for what you have researched for a resolution try the
below URL.

Question please, too many other Vista x64 users do not experience conflicts
using proper USB Flash Media, why do you assign blame toward Vista x64?

Likely you are aware, Vista x64 provides the highest level of inherent
security and will not tolerate inferior products. For that reason, most
people are very thankful that Vista is protecting their OS.

Will you visit the below URL ?
