Re: Filesystem Still Case Sensitive After Uninstalling SUA
Hi Michael,

Thanks for your response and I am sorry to hear that repair cannot help you
resolve the issue. I suspect the removing SUA may cause this issue. Due to
the lack of Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications troubleshooting
information, I cannot find any similar issues reported in our internal
knowledge base. Therefore, if possible, I'd like to suggest you perform a
parallel installation of Windows Vista.

Thanks & Regards,

Ken Zhao

Filesystem Still Case Sensitive After Uninstalling SUA
Hello,

I installed SUA on my Vista Enterprise desktop machine to attempt to play
around with it. During the install, I chose to make the filesystem case
sensitive. After I determined it wasn't what I was looking for, I
uninstalled it.

Now, it appears my filesystem is still in "case sensitive" mode. If I go
into Control Panel->System->"Advanced system settings", I get an error
message saying "Windows cannot find
'C:\windows\system32\systempropertiesadvanced.exe' Make sure you typed the
name correctly, and then try again".

When I browse to the system32 directory, the executable is there, but it's
named "SystemPropertiesAdvanced.exe". The same thing happens with the other
"Tasks" within the System Control Panel.

I did find a reference to a registry setting:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\kernel\obcaseinsensitive, but setting it to 1 made no difference.

Any other ideas?

RE: Filesystem Still Case Sensitive After Uninstalling SUA
Hello Michael,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

From your post, do you mean Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA)?

You may try the following steps to repair Windows Vista:
1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then
start the computer.
2. Press a key when you are prompted.
3. Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method,
and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click the operating system
that you want to repair, and then click Next.
