Easy File Transfer Problems

I am using the easy transfer cable and the easy transfer software. It starts
taking me through the steps to transfer the files from my old computer, when
it comes to the screen where it determines the what needs to be transferred,
the size and the setting I get an error report box and the software shuts
down. How do i resolve this problem. (using this means, which is why I
purchased this item because I loathed transfering the files and
re-establlishing the settings.)
