excessive hard drive activity vista premium
My hard drive appears to be running intermittently attempting to do
something even when there is no computer activity. Occassionally I get a
sign appearing "The backup was unable to be completed" Can anyone explain
how I may cure this?

Thanks

As regards hard drive activity - there is very rarely any time when "there
is no computer activity".
Windows Visa has a number of processes that run to help improve the
efficiency of certain tasks and speed up the general use of your PC, such
as SuperFetch and ReadyBoot which may cause additional disk activity as they
perform there job.
As regards backup messages - are you running any scheduled tasks to take
backups or snapshots or do you use previous versions etc ?

Mike,

Thanks for reply. I have not scheduled any backups. How would I check?

Thanks

Re: excessive hard drive activity vista premium
Sounds like Vista Backup is trying to make a backup image (hence disk
activity), then warning you it has failed to complete.

Start/Orb, Control Panel, Classic View, Backup and Restore Center... change
settings...
