Re: Antivirus Recs for Vista
Almost everyone has Vista versions of their AV software now.
I am using Norton AV 2007. Works fine.

Interesting article on Vista AV products (MS Live OneCare failed miserably)

RE: Antivirus Recs for Vista
I've tried OneCare 1.5 and liked certain aspects of it and disliked others. I
found it a little resource heavy on my old machine and it didn't have email
scanning so I finally uninstalled it just in time for AVG to release their
free version 7.5.441 that works great with Vista.

AVG is free and has a minimal footprint on my system. It also plugs in
really well into Outlook 2007 and 2003 for email scanning.

I'd recommend Grisoft's AVG, they have a free edition that I use.

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti.../lng/us/tpl/v5

Avast (also has a free version) and NOD32 if you want a commercial program
are also popular amoung MVPs.

I'd certainly recommend them way way above Symantec/Norton and McAfee
products.

Re: Antivirus Recs for Vista
I think the mainstream websites constantly and purposely
leave mention of ESET's NOD32 out of their articles.

<quote>
But out of the 15, four failed: Microsoft Live OneCare 1.5; McAfee VirusScan Enterprise version
8.1i; G DATA AntiVirusKit 2007 v17.0.6353; and Norman VirusControl v5.90. The other 11,
including software from CA, Fortinet, F-Secure, Kaspersky, Sophos and Symantec, detected all
the viruses. </quote>

ESET has achieved 41 Virus Bulletin VB 100% awards, more than any other vendor. In Virus
Bulletin's comparative tests, ESET's product has not missed an 'In the Wild' virus sample since
May 1998.

Avast works. NOD32 too. Norton's vista compatible should still in beta (or
just released).
