Norton Ghost?
I want to do a ghost of my hard drive as it stands so if anything happens
(god forbid) i have to restore I can just ghost back (operating system the
lot). I have done this many times in XP. I have tried installing the lastest
vers. that I can find but to no avail, Vista is not compatable! Does anybody
know (a) what i'm doing wrong or (b) is there another piece of software that
does the same job and runs in vista?

Windows Vista has imaging software built in. Go to the Backup and Restore
Centre.

Re: Norton Ghost?
So? Try backing up using built-in command line version of Complete PC
Backup, wbadmin.exe. Selecting partition? Saving image on network share?
No problem at all.

Re: Norton Ghost?
If you have Vista Business or Ultimate then it's already in your system.

Re: Norton Ghost?
Will this backup to an external HD like Ghost? Is it easy to do?
I never used a command line version and I am not familiar with this so please excuse me if I don't know what I am
saying.

Re: Norton Ghost?
It will backup to any mounted device. It's really easy: run cmd.exe as
administrator, then wbadmin /?, and study all available switches.
For ex., if you want backup partition C: to your external disk W:, then
run this command:
wbadmin start backup -backuptarget:w: -include:c:
Afterwards check access to that backup launching System Recovery from
your setup DVD, to ensure you really can recovery it should the need
arise.
