Re: Windows Media Player 11 is not adding media in the monitored f
They will be added. This is what I am currently doing. But I do not have
this problem when I was using WMP 11 running under Windows XP.

Windows Media Player 11 is not adding media in the monitored folders
Hi,
It seems like Windows Media Player 11 is not adding any media in the
monitored folders under Windows Vista. There is no such problem when it is
run under Windows XP.
Any explaination?
Thanks.

It does for me, but much slower than WMP10.

Re: Windows Media Player 11 is not adding media in the monitored folde
Are the folders on an external drive? Though MS has said that should work,
many have had mixed results with external drives.
Are the folders on a network share or mapped drive? That will not work -
unfortunately. The Windows Media Player product team apparently has decided
that you cannot share media with your spouse.

Re: Windows Media Player 11 is not adding media in the monitored f
Dale, As I said, it DOES work for me. In fact I always access the library
through its "network" name, even on the system that contains the library (to
make it easier to propagate the library DB to other machines on my home
network - it's too painful to perform library "searches" on 7 machines that
share the library). The monitoring function works on the network name
although about 10 times slower than XP WMP10. Normally I simulate the WMP10
'search' function by leaving the folder monitoring off and setting it on only
for the individual new/changed items while they're added to the library -
immediately turning it off again. I have over 60,000 tracks and tight control
over any changes to the library and don't need to burn up the cpu verifying
that all of the tracks are still there each time I start WMP.
Although the monitoring is much slower than WMP10, it's one of the functions
of Vista/WMP11 I can live with. I have much more trouble with the removal of
the many other functions that have no equivalent such as "Find Album info".
I'll keep XP/WMP10 around on at least one machine to perform those functions
until Microsoft come to their senses.

Re: Windows Media Player 11 is not adding media in the monitored f
Sorry, my post was intended for the OP but I didn't have his post here.
I find that amazing that you can share a library over the network using WMP
11. I have never heard of anyone able to add files from a network drive to
their WMP 11 library before this.

Re: Windows Media Player 11 is not adding media in the monitored folde
My media is in my external drive. I tried on 2 of my computers. Both have
the same result. I tried asking WMP to search for the media but it found
nothing. It will only add the media in the library when I play them from
Windows Explorer.

Re: Windows Media Player 11 is not adding media in the monitored f
I don't know what to tell you. You might try 'sharing' the drive and then
accessing it through the \\machine-name\sharename path which would be the
equivalent of what I do for all my music.

Re: Windows Media Player 11 is not adding media in the monitored f
Ok, I now tried putting the media in the Music folder of my profile and
Public, seems like WMP still does not add them automatically.

What happens when you drag and drop them over the library list in the Songs
view?
