AcroRd32.exe runtime error

I installed 8.0 on a new notebook running Vista and I get this error.

Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I've uninstalled and downloaded a couple times to no avail.

any thoughts?

Uninstall all versions of Adobe (Acrobat) Reader and then either install the
newest version from Adobe or install Foxit:
Foxit: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
