I meant that if you buy a copy of Windows in whatever language, you do
not get to choose another language when you install it; it will only
install one language. One language per copy. With Ubuntu, the CD has all
the languages in the world to choose from when you install it. See the
difference now?

No, you can't. You can change the time, keyboard, etc. but the Start
button, if the copy of Windows is English, will always read "Start" no
matter what you do.

Re: urgent

Here's a copy of the Windows Vista Help:
"Install a display language
You can change the language Windows uses to display text in wizards, dialog
boxes, menus, and other items in the user interface. Some display languages
are installed by default; others require you to install additional language
files.
Before you can install a display language, you need access to the language
files. These files can be on your computer, on a computer on your network,
or on your Windows DVD; or they can be downloaded from the web. For more
information, see How do I get additional language files?"

Re: urgent
Not only is it pathetic he keeps suggesting Ubuntu but he has never even run
or seen Vista and keeps giving advice to people who actually are running
Vista.
Really sick.

Re: urgent
Maybe some day when you actually run Vista you will be able to give advice.
Until then why don't you go do something else.
You can change the language at any time including the menus.

Really? I must be dense then because I see English mentioned twice in
his OP. That said, I didn't say anything about English.
Here's his post:
hi, a language question. my new computer is not in english. going thru
setup, on the very first page there are three drop-down menus, the first one
is country, what is the second one??? seems to be a question about
languages,
but i'm not sure exactly what... is this a chance to choose english as my OS
language? <<<<<<<<
And, no, it is not a chance to choose English as his OS language. He's
stuck with the language it came in.
Sheesh!

Well, that's news to me. It's about time MS caught up with Linux and
offer any language per DVD.
You learn something new every day.
