Help! Guide update prevented by Norton firewall

I have Vista and everytime Media center tries to automatically download the
latest guide there is an error: Guide server error (Code 34). Once I disable
the Norton personal firewall it works. How do I keep the firewall up and have
the guide download too?

Hi D Moe24,

I never used Norton or Media Center, so I can't give you specific
details. You need to set the firewall to allow the program for the
guide (from Media Center) full access to the internet. (Incoming &
Outgoing)

I recommend you get rid of the Norton Home security products. There are
good alternatives.

Hello, i had the same problem and this was nothing to do with norton - i
dont have it installed. it was something as simple as the date and time
on your computer. mine was set to 2006, instead of 2007 . so i would
suggest that you check your time and date. hope this helps. paul
