Multipe drivers lost after reboot, then reinstall themselves ???
Hi guys+girls, hope you can help.
Whenever I reboot my PC (C2Duo 6600,2Gb RAM,250Gb SATA,Asus P5VM-
DH,Audigy 2XS, NVidia 7600GS); Basically Vista loses drivers for
various stuff such as my sound card, USB hubs, wireless cards. It
reinstalls them fine but takes a couple of minutes after every reboot
and is a bit annoying. Its also adding a number to the start of the
device name. Most notable is when I put my mouse over speaker icon its
now up to 27!
I have turned system restore on/off just in case. I took the plunge
and did a fresh re-install last week but its still at it! All drivers
are latest non-beta I could get my hands on, although I dont think its
driver-specific; as for instance, my usb hub and sound card are in no
way related.
Any help or advice much appreciated!
Chris

RE: Multipe drivers lost after reboot, then reinstall themselves ???
Have exactly the same problem, besides a few other Vista specific
annoying problems.
From day one, after upgrade from pre-installed XPSP2 on my Scaleo C2DUO 6800
after every cold-boot, the Realtech Audio driver is reinstalled. Few day ago
i installed a Hauuppauge PVR 150 MCE, Vista didnt ask for driver, but
installed it by itsself. After setting the channels for radio and tv it
worked fine. However next day after firing up Media Center, it couldn't find
the tuner-settings, even after driver was reinstalled after reboot. So now i
need to set the tuner EVERY day, unless i do it the American en not so GREEN
way and leave the machine running 24/7. Hybernate doesn't work as the
screen pops up 99 error-messages from "dll-hostprocesses not working" when
waking up because the network connection takes forever to build.
I love this WOW-experience, NOT

Ok, was given my solution on dutch forum by vistabits.nl
Change value of DevicePath from inf to System32 in register using regedit.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion
\DevicePath
van %SystemRoot%\inf in %SystemRoot%\System32

Would be nice to have an edit button....
Most driverprobs with regards to reinstall after every boot are solved this
way for me.
However, my tv-tunercard, certified Vista Hauppauge WInTV PVR-150 still
needs te be reinstalled EVERY time i start Media Center. And although setup
the tuner is excellent as in i am abel to find my local cable-supplier
settings, it takes a few minutes AND 20 or so mouseclicks before i'm done.
