Outlook 2002 and Password for POP3
In Vista, the password does not seem to be retained (despite setting the box
to remember) and therefore is requested at each programme load. Having
submitted at run time, it then fails with message that the email server has
rejected the logon. However, cancelling this alert, then enables a
satisfactory send/recieve. Enen setting the box to remember the password,
gets lost when you close the outlook application and re-start.
Can any one help, as this worked in XP

RE: Outlook 2002 and Password for POP3
I have the same problem. I read something suggesting that this is related to
corrupt pst files. Appearently you have to set up a new user account and set
up the mail settings. Before using the pst files, you need to scan them and
fix all errors. Will try now, although I really don't want to set up a new
user if I can avoid it...

Re: Outlook 2002 and Password for POP3
I have the same problem. I have heard that all the protected storage details
(containing password) in registry are deleted for some reason when
installing Vista.
My next course of action is to install Outlook 2002 on another computer so I
can save the registry keys and import them in Vista and hope it works.
Havent tried it yet.

Re: Outlook 2002 and Password for POP3
That is a known issue with Outlook 2002 and Vista.
There is no fix except to upgrade to a later version of Outlook.

Thanks very much Gary; I thought it may involve an upgrade <sigh>.

Re: Outlook 2002 and Password for POP3
I have Office/outlook 2003 and it still has the same issue with not saving
the password. Has anyone found an answer? If not I'mm going to take this new
computer back to the store and wait until a later date to get a new one.

Re: Outlook 2002 and Password for POP3
I did an upgrade to Office/Outlook 2003 (luckily my son upgraded his) &
there's been no problems since then. Have you asked the store where you
bought your new computer?
