Is it possible to show the build number and such with the final release
retail version such as in pre-releases?

.....or if you meant on the Desktop wallpaper then you can set this value to
1 rather than 0

Start > regedit

PaintDesktopVersion

at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Then log off and on

Re: Build number question
Go to the command prompt and type "ver" without the quotes. Should show
you that you have build 6000.

Re: Build number question
Go to regedit.

Browse to HKEY_Current_User\Control Panel\Desktop and toggle the
PaintDesktopVersion value to 1. Then it will show up on your desktop.
