Speech Recognition: Change language
I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit with a Dutch MUI pack, but there's no
speech recognition available for Dutch yet. Is there anyway I can change the
language for Speech Recognition to English and keep the rest Dutch?

Thanks in advance,

- Matti.

Did anyone figure this out yet? I'd really like to use the English
dictionnary while the Dutch one isn't available...

RE: Speech Recognition: Change language
I dont think so. According to another post, the Speech Recognition Engine
must be the same as the language for the UI.

RE: Speech Recognition: Change language
Actually, I was wrong. If you run Windows Update, you can choose the
optional language packs. If you choose Danish, you then can go into Control
Panel --> Ease of Access --> Speech Recognition Options --> Advanced Speech
Options

Then Select the Language of Speech Recognition Engine you want.

Re: Speech Recognition: Change language
Michael,
You are absolutely correct. However, just to keep this in mind is if the
language packs don't show up in Windows Update make sure you don't have any
updates hidden.

Re: Speech Recognition: Change language
I ran Windows Update and I could not find any optional language packs. The
attached screen capture shows that there are no new updates available. My
Vista is the Home Premium version. Could you please elaborate on how you
choose the optional language packs?

RE: Speech Recognition: Change language
Well, in fact that's where the problem lies.

When I open the Speech Recognition options, it doesn't display any options.
The only thing that appears is:

Configure your Speech Recognition experience

If you would like to learn more about speech related tools and support
from Microsoft, please visit the Microsoft Speech Online Community.

No options at all, and in the left panel there's only a "Text to Speech"
link. And the most weird fact is that it's in English, despite that I'm on a
Dutch MUI! :-S

RE: Speech Recognition: Change language
Okay, I managed to reach the Advanced Speech Options through the Text to
Speech options. (they have the same dialog, I just had to switch the tab) I
chose to use the UK version, clicked Apply and then switched back to the US
version and the Speech Recognition Options appeared. However, when I click on
any of them, it gives me the following alert:
---
Het onderdeel waarnaar wordt verwezen is niet op dit systeem geïnstalleerd.
---
Free translated: the referred component is not installed on this system.
---
Does anyone knows what I can do to make it work?

+1
I got the same problem to, it's just not installed so 1st step we have to
get the intallation pack somewhere else, it must work.
I have a friend, his computer language is in french, but he can command it
with speech recognition in English, so I noramlly we must be able to command
it in English on a Dutch PC. (Need the installation of it)
