I have the same printer.
I can't find where HP says the driver is "under study".
This is what I found:
"Currently, there is no Windows Vista driver available for your HP product.
Therefore your product will not work with Windows Vista at this time.
HP is currently working to make the HP driver solution for your product
available as soon as possible."
