How To Make ALL Folders the same format.

Hello. Help please?

I have Windows Vista.

I am trying to figure out how to make all my music folders the same. I
have a music directory with sub
directories containing the music cd's. I want all my folders showing
to be the same width, have the same categories , etc etc....it seems I
have to adjust EVERY one separately.

Is there a way to set the same column width for all my music folders !!

Re: How To Make ALL Folders the same format.
Hi migrage84--

Try typing in run box (Windows key +R)>"control folders" without quotes>view
tab>restore defaults. You can also use resert folders button or apply to
all folders to get a uniform view.

This also may be what you are looking to do:

Change thumbnail size and file details
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...1b06d1033.mspx

You can change the size and appearance of your file and folder icons by
using the Views menu, which is located on the toolbar within every folder.

Open the folder you want to change.

Click the arrow next to Views on the toolbar.

Move the slider up or down to change the appearance of the icons.

The slider has seven rest positions: Tiles, Details, List, Small Icons,
Medium Icons, Large Icons, and Extra Large Icons. You can move the slider to
any of these positions, or fine-tune the size of the icons by moving the
slider to any point between these positions.

To quickly switch between views, click Views on the toolbar. Each time you
click, the folder switches to one of these four views: List, Details, Tiles,
and Large Icons.

Im looking for a way to change all the folders width and categories to

What happens when you use the keystroke WindowsKey and R together? As Chad
said that should bring up a Run box.

Re: How To Make ALL Folders the same format.
Mirage84-

I understand what you're looking for, and believe I have provided the ways
to get it. As Neil explained, I was using one of many key combinations
which means to hit the Windows key on the lower left of the keyboard just to
the right of the Ctrl key and the R at the same time-->and this will bring
up your run box. The run box is one of the places you can run commands to
bring up your programs or utilities that are within Windows. If you follow
directions you should be able to get all your folders the same style and
size. You may have to tweak the folders as directed by the links and then
go back to control folders and hit the reset folders and apply to folders
buttons.

Re: How To Make ALL Folders the same format.

I appreciate your effort to assist me.

As instructed, from the desktop....i hot the windows key and R. It did
bring up the Run box.

I typed in control folders. (enter) then the view tab.

I am just a bit confused as to how this sets my music folders columns
to my chosen widths. Could you please walk me through it? There is no
place to actually set the folder up in there.

Thanx.

Re: How To Make ALL Folders the same format.
Miarage--

1) If you read my posts, I said you might first have to use the instructions
I gave you to set the folders the way you wanted them.

Also:

Change folder views and behavior
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...939cd1033.mspx

2) Then use the control folders dialogue box to "reset folders" then the
apply to all folders button will become active and hit that one.apply to all
folders."

So set your folders according to the two links above first, and then use
control folders dialogue boxes two buttons.

Button one: "Reset all folders" Button two: "apply to all folders."
