When I goto the add/remove in vista I noticed there are hardly any programs
listed..maybe 7-8 programs available for removal...i want to remove office

Do you have different users? You may have them in several user id's and you
may logon as administrator in safe mode.
Uninstall them in safe mode.

Are you going under the main administrator account or under a guest account?
It may just be a permission issue.

I have only 1 user and the laptop is only 2 weeks old...so all extra programs
were installed under the same user...I should be able to see them all as
administrator right?

You are probably signing on as administrator in safe mode, in regular mode,
administrator is disabled by default.

Are you sure? There is a difference between administrator and
administrative user in Vista, a distinction that did not exist in XP
