Vista Ultimate OEM Edition Question
I read on CNN or somewhere that if you purchase a copy of Vista Ultimate you
could purchase from microsoft 2 licenses for home premium at a reduced rate..
My question is 1 is this true or have i mis-read this... 2 Does this apply
to Vista Ultimate OEM licensing?
I am hoping I read this right as I live in house of many computers, what
great idea if this is true.
Do anyone know of this and if so where I can find more details... and again
if true way to go microsoft
In anticipation
Michael

"...Purchase the Windows Vista Ultimate retail boxed product, and you
can upgrade up to two additional PCs in your household to Windows

Not for OEM only Retail Windows Ultimate purchasers.

Re: Vista Ultimate OEM Edition Question
If you have 5 computers, you might check out the Volume licensing programs.
I've see 5 listed as the break-even point in several places.

I also seem to recall seeing OEM multi-packs but don't remember where or if
they were discounted from the single packs.

Mike, on the Family discount do you know if the VHP versions are upgrade or
full; does the version of Ultimate, upgrade or full impact the VHP version?

Re: Vista Ultimate OEM Edition Question
Upgrade regardless of the version of Ultimate you purchased.

RE: Vista Ultimate OEM Edition Question
Michael23,

The OEM Version of Vista was designed by Microsoft for Licensed Builders and
OEMs.

The OEM Vista is -not- equivalent to Genuine Microsoft Windows Vista, very
similar, but far from equivalent.

Consider this scenario, if currently you are experiencing uncertainties
installing an OEM Vista, in the future who are you gonna call for tech
support later? All the participants within these Forums are volunteers, not
employees of Microsoft. Frequently junior high school students provide
responses to persons inquiring for assistance, and it’s possible for one
receiving a multitude of conflicting responses to the same Posted question.

Easily, the price for OEM software plus the financial expense for just one
or two tech support telephone calls (if possible) could easily far exceed the
price for initially purchasing Genuine Microsoft Software, which includes
free technical support.

Considering Windows Vista is so incredibly technically advanced, today, at
this writing, many individual IT Pros do not have a clue as for how to
resolve technical issues regarding Windows Vista.

It seems logical for believing when individual users install OEM Vista; the
secondary results would equal the proverbial Pandora’s Box containing
troubles and problems.

However, since OEM software is designed -only- for licensed builders and
OEMs, directly contacting the licensed builder and/or OEM where you purchased
your OEM, would be your best source for information for your question.

Should you telephone Microsoft Tech Support for assistance, the above is the
only response Microsoft provides to the OEM Vista user (as well as all
previous Versions of Microsoft Windows).

Trying to save a few dollars today might later prove a very financially
expensive and time consuming learned by hind sight experience.

Your machine and money, your decision for the making...
