Vista complete backup won't restore - gets error disk are too smal

I did a complete back up of my Vista system RTM Ultimate once I had it all
setup the way I wanted it. My Raid controller on my RAID 1 setup then failed
and corrupted the install. I attempted to put in a different controller and
restore my backup but I get an error the disks are too small when in fact
they are they same disks on a different controller. Is there some trick to
get the restore to work?
