updating RC1?
I have Vista Ultimate RC1 build 5600.
Am I correct in assuming that they don't release any updates or
patches or whatnot for the RC's? I've been keeping an eye on the
"Download Updates Available" tool and haven't seen anything for weeks.
Just curious. =) Thanks.

You won't see anymore updates for the RC releases now that Vista is
released. Even before release, they typically only release patches for
non-released products if the issue is extremely critical.

Re: updating RC1?
I think the same updates should be for RC's but I may be wrong

Re: updating RC1?
the real deal is out to anyone who like to buy.

At this time all betasupport and updates will come to an end.

you can keep that copy of betavista until it expires in 5 - 6 months, but
it's pretty much worthless and technically outdated.

From Rc1 to Rtm there were major changes in stability, drivers, features and
speed and last but not least to the Appearance and Behaviour of the OS.

Re: updating RC1?
Is it possible to buy the upgrade and use that on RC1?

Re: updating RC1?
No.

Pre-release software does not qualify for upgrade pricing. You can,
however, purchase an Ultimate full edition and perform an upgrade-in-place
if you wish to avoid having to reinstall your stuff. Any other edition will
require a custom install and you must save your files and settings first and
then restore them later. Apps would have to be reinstalled.

Re: updating RC1?
No. In order to use the upgrade installation, you will need an activated
copy of XP or Win2000 installed first.

Re: updating RC1?
He can do the upgrade installation all right. But he has to use a full
edition to do it.

Re: updating RC1?
How about a legitimate copy of a volume license Win XP Pro?
Can one upgrade from that with just an upgrade Vista?
