Cant install Windows Vista Home Premium 64 with 4GB memory
I have a big problem.

I cant install Vista on my computer with 4x1024mb Ram.
I got bluescreens !

If i take out one of the memory, and run with 3x1024 all works fine,
but, if i after the Vista installation is complete, put in the 4'th memory
again, the Bluescreen is there.

The memory is Corsair Twinx2048-6400
Motherboard Asus M32N-SLI Deluxe

Why in the world do you need 4 gigs of RAM?

Almost sounds like one of the ram sticks is faulty. Can you swap them
around, maybe put the one you took out, back in and take one of the other
ones out.
Or try memtest.

I had the same problem with my Asus M2N SLI Deluxe
Go into the BIOS and set the memory voltage manually.

Re: Cant install Windows Vista Home Premium 64 with 4GB memory
I thought Vista was going to support huge amounts of RAM, many times more
than even 4GB. Is that not the case?

And I can think of a lot of reasons for having more than 4 GB of RAM. Video
editing for one. Don't some digital video camera create about 1 GB of data
per minute?

RE: Cant install Windows Vista Home Premium 64 with 4GB memory
Peter, I don't know if your ASUS MB has this same BIOS setting as my ASUS P5B
Deluxe WiFi-AP MB: "Memory Remap Feature" - if it does, this feature must be
enabled for x64 OS to recignize all 4GB of memory (or most of it).

I have successfully installed Vista Ultimate x64 (RTM Build 6000) on 2
different computers, each with 4GB of memory.

Here's my experience: http://byooc.blogspot.com/2007/01/on-bleeding-edge.html

Hope this helps.

Re: Cant install Windows Vista Home Premium 64 with 4GB memory
Here is why I run 4gig.
I need to test some processes for work so I run VMWare server software on my
machine.
It allows me to run a SQL server with 2 gig memory. Two more workstations
512 each and my main machine.
All at the same time.

Re: Cant install Windows Vista Home Premium 64 with 4GB memory
Peter--

Whatever the problem is, I doubt the extra RAM. Maybe you have a bad memory
stick. Is it feasible to exchange it for another one? Does this go if you
take out one particular memory stick or any of them?
