upgrade path from xp academic to vista academic?

I dont think there is such a path is there because xp academic is basically
xp pro and vista academic is home premium so theres no upgrade path between
the two is there?

What do you mean by upgrade path? Are you asking if you can use an upgrade
version or do you mean with an upgrade version can you do an in place
upgrade? I haven't seen any info on the academic version of Vista. However
you can use an upgrade version of Vista Home Premium to upgrade XP Pro but
it will not do an in place upgrade, only a custom install. Apps will need
to be installed from original media and use the Windows Easy Transfer (WET)
to transfer data and settings.

I also believe, from being a reseller of Microsoft Academic Software, that
those versions are NON-Upgradeable, I think it is stated in the license
agreement. So you would have to purchase a Full version of the software.
The Academic prices are lowered to reflect the NON upgradeable status I
believe, dont quote me on it though.

Thanks that answers my question, I don't need to upgrade to the Ultimate
when I can go the the Home Premium. I don't care if I need to re-install the
applications. When I built a multi-media machine I installed XP Pro and
some of the ATI hardware/software does not work properly because it requires
the Multi-media operating system. I am hoping that with Vista Home Premium
that this system will work as it should.
