photoscreensaver.scr command line parameters
To All

I manage about 400 people for State gov and I wish to use the
photoscreensaver.scr as the default screensaver. The only problem with that
is that if there are no pictures in the \pictures folder .. the screen saver
kicks in with a 'no pictures found' ..

Is there a command line parameter I can pass that will tell the
photoscreensaver to look in the users\pictures\samples pictures folder ??

Thanks

Re: photoscreensaver.scr command line parameters
You may create a .REG file with the following contents, and run it as a logon script.

- - -
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\Slideshow\Screensaver]
"FolderPath"="C:\\Users\\Public\\Pictures\\Sam ple Pictures"

- - -

Alternately, you may use the REG.EXE command-line tool.

Re: photoscreensaver.scr command line parameters

I am trying to use the photoscreensaver.scr for the
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Desktop\SCREENSAVE.EXE key so I can
display pictures while no user is logged on to the system but I am
getting the following error when it tries to run:

-An error is preventing the Slide Show from playing-

I have been using the ssmypics.scr screensaver on my Windows XP systems
for years in order to accomplish this same behavior while no one is
logged on to the computer and have never had a problem.

Re: photoscreensaver.scr command line parameters

Found the Fix!!!

TROUBLESHOOTING
===================

1. Searched procmon.log to confirm if the FolderPath key (which
determines the location of the pictures) was being read. The log showed
that the key that was being searched was:

"HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-19\Software\Microsoft\Windows Photo
Gallery\Slideshow\Screensaver"

instead of:

"HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Window s Photo
Gallery\Slideshow\Screensaver"

2. Added the "Windows Photo Gallery" registry keys to the Local Service
account
(S-1-5-19) and the screensaver started to work

Hope this helps!
