Remote Control for Vista Premium Home Edition
I have the WinXP Media Center Infrared Remote Control (OEM) that I have used
successfully with Windows MCE 2005. I am now running Vista Premium Home
Edition and would like to use the same remote with it. When I plug in the USB
IR Receiver, Vista recognizes it and it shows up in my device properties.
However, the red light on the receiver never turns on as it did on my MCE
2005 machine. With this, the remote does not work.
Any ideas on how to get the WinXP Media Center Infrared Remote Control to
work with Vista?

RE: Remote Control for Vista Premium Home Edition
Media Center 2005 Infrared Remote Control and receiver (OEM) will work on
Vista out of the box.
Try another USB port ( but do think its at) or pull the batteries out 1/2
hour( at sould clear the remote) or try new batteries.

Re: Remote Control for Vista Premium Home Edition
My XP MCE ir remote does work properly with Vista Ultimate.
Not sure why yours does not, but have you gone through the remote
setup routine in Vista MC and does your TV tuner work correctly?

Re: Remote Control for Vista Premium Home Edition
I'm using the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150MCE l.p. tv tuner which works great with
Vista. The funny thing is the remote worked when I was running Vista RC1 on
the same machine. After doing a clean install with the Vista OS I obtained
through my MSDN account, the USB IR Receiver stopped working (no red light).
I just assumed Microsoft dropped support for this remote in Vista as the new
remotes coming out have SideShow functionality.

RE: Remote Control for Vista Premium Home Edition
Thanks for the quick reply! I tried these option actually but with no
success. I'm at work now but I'll try again tonight.

Re: Remote Control for Vista Premium Home Edition
I believe I am having a similar problem. I just got a brand new Media Center
remote from Microsoft. The USB is recognized correctly (eHome Infrared
Receiver). The RC light's up when I click any button (so it is working) and
the receiver also blinks a red light. I can't make this thing work on my
Vista Ultimate (32bits), none of the buttons work in Media Center.
- Batteries are new.
- Already Uninstalled eHome Infrared Receiver from device manager and
reinstalled.
- Already booted the pc.
- Also tried to disable FFDSHOW as some people had related problems with it.
I believe this remote should work, as it was announced as Vista compatible
and I don't see many people complaining. I don't have a TV Tuner, as I intend
to use the remote to simply play WMP files and control volume. Anyone have
any idea on how to make the remote work in my Vista?

Re: Remote Control for Vista Ultimate
I have exactly the same problem with the MSFT WinXP Media Center remote.
Notihing works on Vista. Anyone found a workaround on this in the last couple
of months?
Thanks!!

Re: Remote Control for Vista Ultimate
What problem do you have? The remote doesn't work at all or just certain
commands don't work?
I have a HP laptop with Vista Ultimate 64 and my original XP MCE Remote and
Keyboard work flawlessly with Vista.
Perhaps a hardware issue, what are the hardware specs? Was this a new Vista
system or an upgrade?

My MCE Remote stopped working when an eHome update came through on Windows
Update. It was shortly after Vista was released, IIRC. They way I got it
working was the same method described here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archi...31/458928.aspx
I think that will work, but of it does not, try reading this too:
