The circle on the cursor does not spin after exiting from DX9 games.....
Just noticed that the circle on the cursors (indicating Vista is busy doing
something) does not spin anymore after I exit any DX9 games. This is on
Vista x64 RTM.....

Anybody noticed the same thing? Or is it only on my own machine?

Re: The circle on the cursor does not spin after exiting from DX9 games.....
If this is reproducable, it might be a bug they should KB:

Tell them via the Beta feedback tool which is still running, and you can
download and us it here: (I have no confidence whatsoever in a MSFT wish
report working)
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=43655

1) Try running SFC (System
File Checker) Run SFC (System File Checker) from an elevated command prompt.
It replaces files that are damaged with intact ones:

Start>right click cmd>run as admin>type at the prompt sfc /scannow.

2) You can run Startup Repair by putting your Vista DVD in after the
language screen in setup. You can also run System Restore from the same
location. It fixes Vista in other situations besides a BSOD no boot:

You run the startup repair tool this way (and system restore from here is
also sometimes effective):

How To Run Startup Repair In Vista Ultimate (Multiple Screenshots)
http://www.windowsvista.windowsreins...rtup/index.htm

Note The computer must be configured to start from a CD or from a DVD. For
information about how to configure the computer to start from a CD or from a
DVD, see the information that came with the computer.
2. Restart the computer. To do this, click Start, click the arrow next to
the Lock button, and then click Restart.

This usually means that you enter bios setup by whatever key or keys
(sometimes there is more than one key that will do it for your model--go to
pc manufacturer site) and configure CD to be first in the boot order.

See for ref:
Access/Enter Motherboard BIOS
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm

Note If you cannot restart the computer by using this method, use the power
button to turn off the computer. Then, turn the computer back on.

3. Set your language preference, and then click Next.

Note In most cases, the startup repair process starts automatically, and you
do not have the option to select it in the System Recovery Options menu.

4. Click Repair your computer.

5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click the operating system
that you want to repair, and then click Next.

6. In the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair to start the
repair process.

7. When the repair process is complete, click Finish.

1) Insert Media into PC (the DVD you burned)

2) ***You will see on the Vista logo setup screen after lang. options in the

3) Select your OS for repair.

4) Its been my experience that you can see some causes of the crash from
theWin RE feature:

You'll have a choice there of using:

1) Startup Repair
2) System Restore
3) Complete PC Restore

Good luck,

The Microsoft Beta Client no longer accepts Vista or IE7 bugs. It has been
reset to accept Longhorn Server bugs only. Connect no longer manages Vista
bugs and they must be filed the same as any released product.

Re: Getting meaningful feedback to an onpoint person
Well then, however I got feedback to them, I'd find a team blog by googling,
dogpiling, or msnsearching, or now googlemashing (the offspring beta)
because MSFT Wish is next to worthless.

Do you have any more precise suggestions for feedback then--

If I don't know the team or someone on it I (sometimes I do)

msdn blogs and the topic or team I thought I could find

technet blogs and the topic or team I thought I could find

and feed back what I thought was a bug using the TBT bug model (or as
complete information as you can give them) so it could be seen.

MS Wish is tantamount to standing at the Atlantic or Pacific or some other
ocean and announcing you want the tide changed. It ain't gonna happen.

I think feedback works best at the particular team and directed towards its
members who might be able to do something in a service pack (doubtful) or
next time around with Vienna whatever (because Blackcomb mountain and Vienna
Austria are right next door to each other with Luchenbach Texas in between
them.

Which raises the point, what's wrong with Luchenbach as the name for the
next OS--Zippy, Wagner Edstrom/McCann Ericson Hip, it would definitely be a
smart marketing move.

Windows Server Luchenbach

RE: The circle on the cursor does not spin after exiting from DX9 games.....
Hello,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

From your post, if the issue only occurs when you exit any DX9 games, I am
not sure if it is related to the graphics card in the system. Please first
confirm if you have the DirectX 9- compatible graphics card installed in
the system.

Yes. I had the ATI X1950XTX and now the Nvidia 8800GTS and both exhibit the
same symptom. I also had the December DX9 update. Reproducible everytime I
exit the game the cursor will not animate. Curson animate from fresh boot
just fine.
