sharing folders
In Vista RC1 I'm locked out of some folders , such as "users" , "start menu"
, and others. How do I get permission to view and or alter these? I am
the only user of this computer and am logged on as administrator. Thanks
for any help.

Chas

Re: sharing folders
If these are folders with the shortcut icon on them (I can't remember
if RC1 had the icons yet), these are Junction Points. Junction Points are
folders that have the Read permission set to Everyone - Deny, so you will
not have access to Read these folders.

They are only there for backward compatibilty with pre-Vista applications.
You do not need to access these folders. Junction points actually point
to other folders on your PC.

To see the junction points and the folders they actually point to,
open a command prompt, change to the root of c:\ and type dir /aL /s <enter>

Also - check the Administrators group on your PC and make sure
your login name is a member of the administrators group.
