PowerPoint Viewer 2007 won't open PPS/PPT files
I had this problem in XP when viewing PowerPoint PPS/PPT files and
another app stole the association. A kind person pointed to a file
called PPSFix.zip that solved the problem and corrected the file
association. However, PPSFix.zip is for XP and I am afraid to try it
in Windows Vista without prior experience.
Any help will be appreciated...

Is this the problem you're facing?

Re: PowerPoint Viewer 2007 won't open PPS/PPT files
Thanks for the reply - unfortunately no, I'm getting a message that
"PowerPoint Viewer can not open the file..." I did try your reg fix
but no joy.
The PPS file opens fine on my XP machine. I may have installed
PPViewer 2007 without removing PPViewer 2003 since both entries are
in the registry. Don't know if that makes any difference. There is
no add/remove entry for PPV 2003.
Any other ideas will be appreciated.

Re: PowerPoint Viewer 2007 won't open PPS/PPT files
Are you able to open the PPS file after saving it to the hard drive, instead of opening it directly from Windows Mail?

Re: PowerPoint Viewer 2007 won't open PPS/PPT files
No, the Power Point file won't open even when saving to my hard
drive. Sorry I didn't mention that sooner. It probably isn't an
Outlook Express related problem. It seems to be a compatibility
issue with some other software on the Vista machine. I have also
tried reinstalling the Power Point Viewer with no help. I may try
uninstalling PPV, going through the registry and deleting remnants,
then reinstall again - I'm running out of trys but your thoughts are
greatly appreciated.

Re: PowerPoint Viewer 2007 won't open PPS/PPT files
My guess is that the PPViewer 2003 is launched, which then tries to open the PPS/PPT file (created using Office 2007).

Uninstall PowerPoint Viewer 2007. Install PowerPoint Viewer 2003 and then uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs. Finally, reinstall PowerPoint Viewer 2007. The file association problems, if any should be fixed automatically.

Re: PowerPoint Viewer 2007 won't open PPS/PPT files

I have tried to correct this problem following the instructions as
given, I did change the "show" to "open" in the registry and it still
won't open any pps.

I have Vista and Office 2007, the association is set to open any pps
with the PowerPoint Viewer.

I made the change in both
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPointViewer.SlideShow.11 and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPointViewer.SlideShow.12

Any other suggestions?

And by the way, the files do open when saved, but won't open when
trying to open from Windows Mail.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Mo

Use OpenWith Wizard and set PowerPoint Viewer as default app to show
sideshow.

It's already set a the default, but still won't open.

I don't know what else to do!
