I have the windows 32 bit vista enterprise 6.00 version. THis was a fresh partitioned drive installed from boot up on dvd.Could this have been a virus shutting explorer down?

Windows Visa Crashing
I ran XP Professional on my system without a hitch. As soon as I installed Vista, the system started locking up every 5 to 10 minutes. I would be working on things and it would just suddenly stop working. You would have to reboot the system to get back in.

I finally got fed up and went back to XP Professional. It was definitely a waste of my money buying the operating system.

Re: Windows Visa Crashing
OK -- but what sort of configuration are you running XP Pro on?

What motivated you to look at Vista?

Re: Windows Visa Crashing
I agree. I have a relatively new PC with 1gb RAM, and nothing seemed
to work in Vista. Reboot time jumped up to approximately 4:30 to
reboot. XP was half that. I had to Uninstall a whole lot of software
before the Vista Upgrade would even run. How ridiculous is that? Its
all Windows Software! I figure when they force this crap on me, is
when I buy a Mac!

Re: Windows Vista Crashing
Hey Guys,

I came here when I was looking for help for my explorer crashing. I finally resolved the issue. You're might not be the same as mine, but my explorer would crash everytime I would enter a directory with videos. If any of you have this problem, it is likely video codecs you installed, as crazy as that seems. I removed my codecs, and installed Vista friendly ones and the problem is now gone. Just thought I'd help some people out.
