Black screen when starting vista
I loaded up vista (like I have since beta 2) and suddenly last week the
dreaded black screen just before the login screen.
There is no build number in the bottom corner. Just the mouse curser which i
can move about freely.
If I leave it I get the Vista logo screensaver. ( I had the screensaver
turned off before it stopped working) Numlock caps lock and scroll lock all
come on when pressed But none of the other suggestions work.
I have left my computer for hours and still nothing
I think Sli is always on in my bios as there's no setting to turn it off.
It a GigaByte GA-K8N-Sli.

I'm using Vista 64 RC2.
Nvidia 2 7800gt's But never setup Sli in vista as didn't think it was
possible yet.
Latest Nvidia drivers.

Any help would be very appreciated

RE: Black screen when starting vista
s.brann,

Will you specifically describe how you performed the "current" Vista install?

Did you have *all* devices connected to your computer, including, wishfully
broadband before first inserting Vista's install DVD?

RE: Black screen when starting vista
I installed vista RC2 the day it was released. I was connected to broadband,
I had all of my equipment connected then inserted the Vista DVD. It wasan
upgrade from RC1 which was an upgrade from Beta 2. It installed no problems
and it was running fine up til last week. Then for no reason this.
All my versions of vista have installed been validated and ran no problem.

I'm perplexed. Any help you can give will be very much appreciated.
