Re: No Outlook Express?
Lucky I'm already bald. Windows Mail has me tearing hair out. An e-mail
arrived with a theatre invite with a link to click to raise a return e-mail.
I've received many such before in OE and never a problem. In Windows Mail
nothing happens. A line in the status bar indicates mailto:email address etc
& but the WM e-mail composition screen doesn't launch.

Tried Outlook and it goes looking for a program to link to but not much luck
there. (Outlook has always been and still is a heavy cumbersum thing). I
downloaded Thunderbird and the links worked so I've lined up the tickets.

Went back to Windows Mail and trawled through the Options to see if there
was a setting. No luck. Tried the link again in Windows Mail and blimey, it
launched the Thunderbird composition window!

Re: No Outlook Express?
Wow -- I found the solution - after hours of looking where to look and then
working out the right question! Had to go into this new thing in Vista
called Default Programs (which I don't fully understand yet). Burried deep
in there is the Mailto: option and this is not linked to any program. I
attached it to Windows mail -- and it worked!

No Outlook Express?
Do we get Outlook Express with Vista? It doesn't look like it to me. Are
there any free newsreaders similar to OE?

Re: No Outlook Express?
Outlook Express has been replaced by Windows Mail which is very similar and
can be used as a NNTP client.

If irritated by WinMail, you could try XanaNews
news://forums.talkto.net/xananews.support
Paul-B and Jeff Gaines posted here today that they like it with Vista.

Windows Mail is basically Outlook Express 7. It introduces several new bugs
and no Hotmail support!
