Any Vista equivalent to Sharp G.726 Audio (45) codec?
My webcam generated videos require Sharp G.726 Audio (45) codec to play
but that one works only with XP, not Vista. I wonder if anybody knows a
compatible codec that would work under Vista.

It doesn't. Apparently it is the same I installed on my XP desktop where
it does work. Now I wonder how to uninstall it.

Where could I upload it for you? I don't have web site I could put it up
but I could send you a short clip as an email attachment. What is the
above Setup.exe supposed to do?

It's suppose to be a g.723 filter, I thought it you might want to give it a
try.

OK, I emailed that video clip to you, but why would I need a g.723 filter
when I need a g.726 codec?

I don't know all the ins and out of codecs and filters but they're related
in some ways.

A N Y W A Y . . .

I looked around and as far as I can tell the G.726 codec that works on XP is
the only G.726 codec available for Windows Vista.

I found what was suppose to be a work around, but that did not work either.

So the only solution I could come up with (other than learning to code and
writing the codec myself, I came across some source code for that might help
in writing your own G.726 codec)...

VLAN 0.9.9 can handle G.726. I tried it and it works. That .asf file you
sent had some guy walking into someone's house. You better call the cops,
he looked kind of suspicious. (joking)

Another option I haven't bothered to look into video/audio converter.

Thanks, it works indeed for me, too. I thought though that it was a codec
substitute, not whole new player. I would have liked to use the MS Media
Player but till that becomes possible this will do fine. Come to think of
it, the GOM player might have been able to handle this .asf file, too.

Yeah, that is my house and the cam shoots a 5 sec video whenever a movement
is detected in front of my house and then emails it to me. Pretty good
security device though the photo sensor in it is pretty poor, especially at
low light.

I like this direct viewing better.

I don't believe they ever implemented that as a Media Foundation codec,
which is what WMP11-Vista uses for ASF playback. Windows 7 adds an ACM
wrapper for Media Foundation, so this clip should work there again (once you
install the Sharp ACM codec) through that extra bit of backwards
compatibility. =\
