Calculator and Egg Timer gadgets
If anyone is interested...

As a test, I dug out my old Beta 2 DVD and installed it on Vitrual PC 2007.
I then copied the egg timer and calculator gadgets into a shared folderand
then copied them into my Vista RC2 installation. Both the gadgets will work.
I also tried the original black CPU meter but that didn't work

Keep in mind though that they were removed for a reason. Not because they
didn't want them, but because they caused conflicts in later builds. There
are a great many gadgets available for RTM:

Re: Calculator and Egg Timer gadgets
Are you familiar with the ultra-spyware WeatherBug? It sat down on the
notification area of XP. There were a few other spyware and adware apps
that used that space as well. The problem was that there was limited space
and so you could only add limited spyware and we all no there should be no
limits to the amount of spyware on your PC - thus came about the Windows
Sidebar where you can add all the spyware Microsoft's good friend Claria
wants to put there.

While there will be basic gadgets that aren't spyware, the most seemingly
useful and the most sophisticated and flashy will be spyware; after all,
it's the spyware functionality that pays for the sophisticated and flashy
part of the development. Coders who develop for fun or for free don't
generally have time for sophisticated or flash.
