Its not a problem with just Firefox but a browser problem
Ill be connecting and browsing and after about 20 different sites neither
browser (IE or Firefox) will connect. But other programs (zone backgammon,
MSN messenger) are still connected and online.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this or fix it?
I've reinstalled the browser software for firefox but I don't know how to do
this for IE or if its in the OS.

RE: Its not a problem with just Firefox but a browser problem
IE7 is part of the Vista Operating System, and can not be uninstalled,
reinstalled.

If I recall correctly, you said you had ZoneAlarm installed. As
it's the common denominator, perhaps it's the problem?

No, it's not. Uninstall ZoneAlarm from your Vista machine. There is a
very bad disagreement between ZoneAlarm for Vista and FF2/3. Once ZA is
uninstalled, your FF will run just fine.

Actually even though I've been using Firefox and ZoneAlarm for years I did
uninstall it and so far I'm not having the browsers just quit on me. Now
the question is, is the Vista Firewall all I need? I run AVG but should I
be running anything else outside of Vista for safe surfing.
Thanks (embarrased that I though the suggestion was far fetched)

Actually, the Vista firewall is very good for general purposes. My LAN
is behind a good hardware firewalled router and so far (over 7 years)
I've never had ZoneAlarm tell me the it countered an intrusion. My XP
machines still use ZA, but I have taken it off my Vista machines totally
until "they" get their act together and fix the problem. Mozilla and ZA
need to get their heads together and work it out.
I also hear that Comodo Firewall (the free version) is pretty good. I
have NOT used it though but am looking at it. I too use AVG free
everywhere for virus protection.
