Erin, when you go through the messenger audio and video setup (tools>audio
video setup) in the Microphone setup window make sure that the correct
microphone is selected in the 'select the microphone you would like to use:'
box. It should be set to Microphone (USB audio device) In some cases it is
automatically set to Microphone (intel(r) 82801DB/DBM AC 97 Audio) or
something similar.
